orange roses

On Thursday I went to the market to buy fresh fruit and left with a bunch of the most beautiful orange roses. I've loved them for years and I've been 'craving' them in my life. When I saw them at the market stall I simply had to buy them, using the money I had put aside to buy lunch with. I'm not advocating skipping meals, but I feel like the roses were the better purchase.

cannes 2014: best dressed

Cannes' glamorous film festival has drawn to a close for another year and once again it provided some stunning gowns for us to all oggle at in envy. I have selected my top five best dressed from the past two weeks; and they are below in no particular order (I don't believe in ranking fashion as I don't think it should work like that).

Blake Lively
Blake Lively

Blake Lively pretty much opened the festival this year, being one of the first to walk down the red carpet. Blake quickly became the centre of the media's attention and she held the best dressed crown in most peoples eyes (including my own) for quite some time. She wore the most glamorous gowns from the likes of Gucci, Chanel and Giambattista Valli. Following her Cannes stint and her recent jaw-dropping appearance at the Met Ball I am sure many will be watching to see what this princess of fashion wears next.

Jessica Chastain

Jessica Chastain

Jessica Chastain's arrival at Cannes made me physically excited and I was refreshing constantly to see photos as soon as they came in. I was not disappointment. She wore Versace, Dolce and Gabbana and Elie Saab; all of which set my heart a flutter.

Cate Blanchett
Cate Blanchett

Cate Blanchett was another early arrival at Cannes gracing us with a Valentino gown at the beginning of the festival. She also wore Armani Prive, Delpozo and Givenchy, providing one of the widest, yet always glamorous, range of looks.

Rosie Huntington Whitely
Rosie Huntington Whitely

Oh Rosie, Rosie, Rosie. Confession time: I've sort of been in love with Rosie since I first saw her. Her face is stunning and she has a killer bod that renders me brewing with envy. But I digress. In my opinion Rosie was one of the best dressed women at the festival with her looks ranging from glamorous in Gucci to sophisticated in Victoria Beckham to sexy in Cushnie Et Ochs.

Eva Green
Eva Green
Last but certainly not least on my best dressed list is the ever dramatic but flawless Eva Green. She played it relatively safe in Elie Saab but she still managed to steal the limelight.

Aaand that's a wrap on Cannes. I hope you enjoyed my posts, let me know if you agree with my best dressed or if you think I'm forgetting anyone important! Many thanks, check back on Thursday for a new post!

cannes roundup: part three

''Two blog posts in one day?!'',  I hear you cry? Well, what you are currently witnessing is full on Cannes panic mode and I am beginning to regret doing these roundups in instalments rather than a collective roundup at the end of the festival which I originally intended to do (and that's why I'm so behind).

But its no good reflecting upon it now. Its done and I might as well embrace the frenzy as soon all the glamour will be over for another year and I will be left a hollow shell with post-couture syndrome. Below are my third set of favourite Cannes looks, let me know which are your favourite.

Jennifer Lawrence in Dior

Jessica Chastain in Dolce and Gabbana

James McAvoy and Jessica Chastain

Rosie Huntington-Whitely in Victoria Beckham

Celine Sallette in Valentino

Eva Green in Elie Saab
