greens, blues and clear thoughts

One of my mothers favourite pieces of advice is to take a walk to clear my head. I always forget, until I heed that very same advice, just how good it actually is.

This weekend I've been revising and struggling with my anxiety, making me a bit of a stressed out person to be around. I was enviously goggling out of my bedroom window at all the students out in shorts and tank tops, wondering how they were able to relax and not worrying about the impending doom of exams.

Hours later, I had had enough. I grabbed my purse and camera and headed out to the shops, determined that I was through with revision and that I would accept my, sure to be poor, fate. However, the second I left my building I felt this weight lift off my shoulders. I was breathing in the fresh air and smiling as I walked down the street (which, in retrospect, might have been fairly frightening to those walking towards me). All my problems suddenly felt much smaller and more manageable. Forty minutes later when I arrived back at my halls, I did another three hours of solid revision.

Okay, this isn't going to fix every problem in the world, but for now at least, I'm going to keep it as my emotional healer.
