NaNoWriMo Run Down

It's that time of the year again, when seemingly normal humans take it upon themselves to take up a task of enormous difficulty. I believe that it would be hard if that was all you were planning to do this November, but the majority of us have work, school, university, and you know, life going on at the same time. The result? A month with no sleep, no social life and a permanently deranged expression. But in the end, it is SO worth it.

For those of you who don't know and are now crying out in frustration wondering what on earth I am rambling on about, I'm talking about NaNoWriMo, National Novel Writing Month. The premise behind it is simple enough, every November 100,000s of people try to write a 50,000 word novel. That works out at roughly 1,667 words A DAY. This sounds quite daunting, but if you manage your time effectively, it can be done.

I have entered every year for the past six years and I have, shamefully, never 'won', i.e. never reached 50,000 words. My PB is 30,000, by which point in the month I begin to have a mental breakdown about academic workloads and NaNo gets forgotten. To be perfectly honest, I can't see why this year will be any different from the past 6, but I intend to give it my best shot.

For those of you who want to learn more about the project, I'll link the site and my profile below (feel free to buddy up with me). It begins this Saturday and it is honestly one of the most exciting, challenging and informative things you could undertake this autumn. Challenge extended.
