Merry Christmas

Evening all, happy boxing day! After a rather stressful month I had a little break from the internet, ready to take 2016 by storm. If you managed to keep up with vlogmas you would have seen me visit my dad at work in London, where we stopped by the Savoy for some coffee. I thought I'd share a couple of festive shots we took before the season passes us by completely (cries until next December). I hope you like them, I'm planning on taking many more trips to London this coming year.
May your days be merry and bright,
Sophie

I'll Be Back.

So when I say that I'll be back, I don't mean in a scary terminator way. I mean, I'm really sorry that things have been a bit sparse here over the last couple of weeks, but normally scheduling will resume within the next week. November/December have been ridiculously busy for me, and unfortunately the thing that gave was blogging. But as of this morning, I've submitted all my assignments, and my freedom will come this Tuesday once I've battled this horrific finance exam. I've missed you dreadfully, and can't wait to be BFF's again.
See you soon,
Sophie

Black Friday

I'm not entirely sure when Black Friday made its way over to this side of the pond quite so fully, but this year felt far more manic than any other year. Liz and I decided to travel to London to have a dabble with the sales, and it felt like every store was participating. By the time I sat down on the coach at 7:30am I had in excess of 30 emails with Black Friday in the heading. Anyway- we had a great day and I did do a couple of cheeky purchases. I vlogged throughout the day and I filmed a haul video showing what I brought. Have a watch below and let me know if you grabbed any great bargains in the sales.

University Room Tour

Hey guys, hope that you're all well. I've uploaded a room tour, which is outdated despite only filming it a couple of weeks back. I have a serious addition to fairy lights. Enjoy!

Gold and Bold Makeup Tutorial

After my lovely Megan had a moan at me that I hadn't done a makeup post in a while, I thought I'd do one better and film a tutorial for her. The look I've gone for is soft and glowy gold eyes, with a bold berry toned lip. Have a look at the shots and check out the tutorial below.
Much love, Sophie x

Victoria's Secret Fashion Show '15

I've decided that attending Victoria's Secret Fashion Show has become one of my life goals. I love the brand (literally all the underwear in my collection is by VS) and I love the huge spectacle of the shows. I was super excited when I learned that Gigi and Kendall were walking this year alongside my favourites, which almost made up for the lack of Karlie and Doutzen. I can't wait until it airs next month!
This year there were over a hundred looks featured, so I've narrowed down my favourites to share with you today. Let me know which looks you love best in the comments down below!

The BEST Christmas Adverts

On Friday morning the new John Lewis Christmas advert was launched, and as per usual, we all lost our minds. For those of you not in the UK, John Lewis is one of our major department stores and these adverts have become something of a big deal. Every year these adverts mark what a lot of people think of as the official start of the Christmas season. And every year they seem to get bigger and better, more anticipated, and almost more competitive, as to who will have the best advert. I am one of those people who started screeching about Christmas in September, but for those of you who have just joined the party (welcome, btw), or joined the party Tuesday with Starbucks' Red Cup launch, I've put together a few of my favourite ads from recent years for your viewing pleasure.
I will just state that these aren't the best things to watch if you're feeling a wee bit weepy. I swear these marketers are determined to make us all cry and I cried putting this together, despite seeing them many times before.
Enjoy your festive fix,
Sophie x
John Lewis 2015
John Lewis 2014. (MONTY!)
John Lewis 2013. (Too cute).
Sainsbury's 2014 (This makes me bawl. Everytime).
Apple 2013
WestJet Christmas Miracle (Such a beautiful gesture)
Coco-Cola. (This to me is iconic Christmas).

Christmas Lush Haul!

Well hello there! Hope you're all well. I have to admit I'm feeling grossly overwhelmed, with mounting deadlines and NaNoWriMo. However, as I've been through all this before, I've planned ahead. I filmed this haul before I went home last weekend, so you still have your weekly upload!
I've used the star and the pumpkin, lit some candles and had the most chilled bath ever!
I hope you enjoy this haul, and the ridiculous facial expressions I make.

Best of Vlogtober

Hello November! I've only had one day without vlogging so far and it still feels weird. I keep reaching for my camera whenever something happens, and going to bed last night without wishing you goodnight felt plainly wrong. But whilst I'm missing sharing my life with you guys, I do feel a little less stressed now I don't have to edit & upload everyday! I've decided to make a masterpost from vlogtober, as I know its hard to keep up all the daily vlogging going on in October.
31 vlogs are, obviously loads, so I've cherry picked my five favourites to let you see the best of what I got up to, as well as the important, difficult moments I faced.
General Joy
What I've loved most about Vlogtober is being able to see all the amazing times I've had, and look back at all the smiles. From the endless starbucks trips and giggles with the girls, I've had many moments of joy this month.
Mental Health
But its not all been rosy. Vlogging every day means you see the rubbish days which normally get hidden. And, there have been a lot of moments of suffering this month. Upon reflection, my deterioration is obvious, and you can tell a breakdown was going to happen. Since then I've still been low, but I'm proud of the battle I've been fighting against my depression and anxiety. Sharing this with you was hard, but your support has been overwhelmingly kind and I cannot thank you enough.
Which vlogs were your favourite this month? Let me know in the comments so I know what you guys like seeing! I won't be vlogging much this month, but I'll be everyday in December for Vlogmas! Until then vloggers x

The Annual NaNoWriMo Warning

If you've been following me less than a year, which I suspect the majority of those reading have been, you may not be aware of the way my life changes in November. After warning you this time last year, I felt it was only fair to remind/educate once again.
NaNoWriMo is short for National Novel Writing Month, an initiative in which hundreds of thousands of insane people attempt to write a 50,000 word novel in the month of November. That equates to 1,667 words a day, which in itself is an enormous challenge. However, add onto the fact that most people have jobs, classes- you know, lives, then it becomes a little ridiculous. But absolutely amazing.
I first signed up when I was thirteen years old, and last year, for the first time, I finally won (ie. wrote 50,000 words). As I gushed last December, I was enormously proud of this achievement. Especially as I managed to maintain a first in my studies and keep up to date with the blog. I like to refer to last November as that time I became wonder woman.
Over the past week I've resumed my planning with the enthusiasm only one who has forgotten previous pain can muster. At present I have plans for both a sequel and book three, and my mood currently is ALL about the writing.
This little widget below will show you how I'm progressing, and you'll be able to find it in the right sidebar everytime you come on the blog. If you want to study more fancy graphs, which I obsess over this month, then you can look at my official NaNo page here.
Ensure you're following my twitter and snapchat (sophiemnewbold) for what I'm sure will a hysterical (to an outsider) view of my gradual breakdown.
See you on the other side...
