Game of Thrones Season 5 Premiere Review

As I tweeted,  there was a very real chance of me vomiting before the show even started. I've been a fan of Game of Thrones since the first season, having read the books shortly before its launch. It's one of those shows that's just epic and everybody, even if they haven't watched it themselves knows what you're talking about when you start wailing about twincest and the mother of dragons (#khaleesilyf).
When the theme began I ended up doing this walky-skipping thing around my (rather small) room to control my excitement. I also try to mimic the operatic singing, which, if I say so myself, is a rather incredible experience to behold.
Anyway, back to the episode itself. Oh and before I begin, this is NOT SPOILER FREE.
I had been rather anxious about this series. The fact that we were overtaking the books, and changing so much from the books had me writhing in disgust. But I was pleasantly surprised. The episode itself felt incredibly strong and I'm genuinely really excited to watch the rest of the series. It's kind of exciting not knowing what exactly is coming. But they better not hurt any of my babies.
I had forgotten that we were going to get the flashbacks this series, and I was so psyched we got the Cersei scene. I love her more with each season. At the beginning, I didn't understand her at all, and just hated her on principle. But the more time goes on, and the older I myself grow, the more I understand and emphasise with her. I wonder if Lena Headey had to demonstrate how well she could wear black at her audition, ready for her state of constant mourning?
I liked having the shot of Tywin's body. The most hated and most powerful man in Westeros is dead, and this throws the season, and the 'game of thrones' wide open.
Many times when watching this show I wonder if its possible to give Peter Dinklage any more screen time. Yeah he won the Emmy etc., but come on. Anyway, he does provide some of the most tumblr worthy lines. How long do we think it will take before 'the future is shit just like the past' is printed onto a t-shirt?
This is weird I guess but I wrote down when we first see bare breasts. It was at 9:19. Which I guess for thrones may be some kind of record. This scene absolutely shattered me. One moment I was worried about the poor, sweet, broken-soul and the next I was hyperventilating. That was one of the most terrifying and unexpected moments ever ever ever.
Oh, another quick complaint. Can we get over this Grey Worm x Missandei crap already? My beloved don't get another screen time as it is before you throw in stupid ships like this one.
At this point I kind of had a melt down, getting Dany, Jon and Sansa scenes back to back. I think my perfect ending to thrones would be Jon and Dany ruling with Sansa and Margaery acting as the royal family.
A girl can dream.
Its starting to infuriate me how ridiculous they are making Brienne's search for Sansa and Arya. Give the poor sweet angel a break.
I have to confess I have no idea what happened in the scene where Lancel appears. I spent the whole time wondering if it was the same actor as before and then I was wondering how he got so attractive and if it would work with women too.
I'm kind of confused by Margaery and Loras' relationship. It's both weird as hell and totally adorable.
In the books Daario Naharis was one of my least favourite characters. He had no redeemable features. But Michiel Huisman has managed to make him strangely endearing to me. Hat's off to you.
The scene where the dragons surprise Dany was so stereotypical, but it was so well done that it was genuinely terrifying and I honestly screamed slightly.
I'm going to take a moment now to talk about Mance Rayder. He truly is an incredible character, a man of great integrity and courage. I think that since abandoning his post he has redeemed himself ten-fold. I love Jon even more for taking the risk of Stannis' wrath. It will be interesting to see how this transpires throughout the rest of the season.
I think the ending to the episode was extremely strong, but I couldn't quite believe it when it finished. I guess I'm going to have to wait another week for the next one (as I flat out refuse to watch pirated copies online).

Let me know what you loved (and hated) about the episode. Are the changes from the books bothering you or are you enjoying not knowing whats coming?
